Our Story
Keystone Financial Group (KFG) was founded in Lexington, Kentucky in June of 2008. The vision of the founding partners was to become an independent firm where the focus is centered on the client. Being an Independent firm means KFG advisors have access to objective research and a variety of investment opportunities to meet each client’s investment objectives. In doing so, we offer a wide range of financial services to help strategically plan, preserve and proactively manage our client’s assets for the short and long term.
KFG Advisors use the EGPRIM Process:
- E – Establish a time to review your financial situation.
- G – Gather the necessary personal, financial, and insurance information.
- P – Process, allow your KFG advisor to process the information.
- R – Recommend strategies and solutions unique to the situation.
- I – Implement strategies per client’s request [fees may occur].

With more than 30 years of financial planning experience, Michael specializes in retirement planning, income distribution planning and intergenerational family planning. Through careful listening and thoughtful strategic planning, Michael strives to help his clients seek and maintain financial independence.
Michael is a lifelong resident of Kentucky. He earned his BS in Accounting from Murray State University, and his JD from the University of Louisville. He has earned the professional designations of Certified Financial Planner and Certified Public Accountant.
Michael began his career in the financial services industry as a Senior Trust Officer in the trust departments of various financial institutions. Upon leaving the banking community in 2007 he became a local Registered Representative with LPL Financial, one of the country’s leading Independent Broker/Dealers. He joined Keystone Financial Group in 2019 as a registered investment advisor.
Michael is actively involved on the Boards and committees of many civic and non-profit organizations in the area including the Paramount Arts Center, Inc., Community Hospice, Inc., Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc., United Way of Northeast Kentucky, and Foundation for the Tri-State Communities, Inc.

Valerie Farris is the Executive Assistant for Keystone Financial Group in our Leitchfield office. Valerie has dedicated her professional life to serving the people of the community she grew up in. After attending Western Kentucky University studying business, she started her career with the Workforce Development Cabinet at the Leitchfield Career Center. Her work there was very challenging but also very rewarding. She served her community for 28 years coordinating programmatic activities related to employment services and unemployment insurance including processing unemployment claims, registering job seekers for work, and making job referrals to employers while ensuring quality services were administrated. She retired in 2007 vowing to live a life of gardening, cooking, and decorating, three of her favorite things.
In 2009 Valerie realized that public service was a part of her and started working part time for Edward Jones Investments as an on call Business Office Assistant. She traveled to area Edward Jones offices filling in for BOA’s learning everything she could about the financial industry. She went to work full time for Elder Wealth Management in 2010, and this led her to Keystone Financial Group with our purchase of Elder Wealth Management in 2013.
Valerie continues to serve the Leitchfield community, committed to providing outstanding customer service. She and her husband Joe enjoy family time with their two children Jason and his wife Leslie and Tasha and her husband Joseph, and three grandchildren, Tyler, Jacie, and Lanie.

He obtained his degree in Economics from Centre College and began his career working as a financial advisor for Edward Jones in 2001. He left Edward Jones in June of 2008 to start KFG with his two business partners. He holds his Securities Series 7, 63, and 66 registrations through LPL Financial. Mike also holds his Life and Health Insurance license for the state of Kentucky.
Mike enjoys assisting clients in developing a customized plan to work toward their goals and objectives. Harrison County High School.
Brian attended the University of Kentucky (UK) where he graduated with honors in Summa Cum
Laude and obtained two degrees: Finance and Economics. Brian learned, throughout his studies,
how the financial and economic disciplines coincided with one another and the influence it has in
everyday living. Brian had the opportunity to intern at Keystone Financial group, while attending

Danielle Gerbracht was born and raised in Pasadena, California, and attended college at California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo.
Danielle began her career in sales and marketing and then expanded her horizons, and utilized her skills to manage small and mid-sized winery tasting rooms and their events. She thrived and carried on to manage boutique luxury hotels in both Santa Barbara and Napa, California. Hosting guests, producing events, making sure the numbers worked, and organizing complex offices was Danielle’s forte. She gained great experience and a reputation for handling the many moving parts calmly under pressure.
While she loves creativity and event planning; low income and odd hours made it difficult to support herself and her childhood horse, Adagio. Danielle made the difficult decision to change careers and her combined skill set made her a great fit for the financial industry. She started at Morgan Stanley as a Wealth Advisor Associate focusing on financial planning. In 18 months Danielle worked with over 100 different advisors and their clients to produce over 450 individual financial plans for clients with up to $145,000,000. Her work has helped clients start new businesses, manage cash flow, children’s medical and educational expenses, and achieve financial independence. Danielle carried financial planning into her investment practice and now provides investment advice for her clients as well.
